Men's Basketball: Wooster bounces Big Red from NCAC Tournament

The Big Red made their return to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament after a two year hiatus but they found themselves pitted against an emotional and determined Wooster squad on Tuesday night from Timken Gymnasium.  The result was a 101-68 victory for the top-seeded Fighting Scots.

Wooster shot 50 percent from the field and would burry 16 3-pointer's on the night as they advanced to the conference tournament semifinals on Friday night.  The Scots hit 34-of-68 from the floor and outrebounded Denison 44-38.  Five players hit double figures led by Nathan Balch's 20 points off five 3-point field goals.  Justin Hallowell scored 14 points and Ian Franks chipped in 11 points and eight assists.

Denison was paced by Larry Farmer's (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) 12 points and eight rebounds.  Chris Luther (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) added 12 points while going 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. Seniors Jeremy Stuhlfauth (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) and Pat Sullivan (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) each netted six points in their final appearance in a Big Red uniform.

The Big Red found themselves down 7-0 early but fought back to get within two at 10-8 with 15 minutes left in the first half.  Wooster would close out the final three minutes of the half on a 10-1 run to take a 49-25 lead into the locker room.

Denison's season comes to a close at 8-18.  Wooster's season continues as their record improves to 20-6.
