Men's Basketball: Rough start sinks Big Red versus Wittenberg

After a rocky first half which saw the Big Red go 9-for-31 from the field they trailed the visiting Wittenberg Tigers by 17 at the intermission.  In the second half Denison shrugged off the poor shooting performance and outscored Wittenberg 36-33, eventually falling 73-59.

Junior point guard Pat Sullivan (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) scored a career-high 19 points off an 8-for-14 shooting performance.  Sullivan was 3-for-4 from 3-point range and also led the team in rebounds with eight.  Sophomore Chris Luther (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) finished with 12 points in 33 minutes and freshman Larry Farmer (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) chipped in eight points, seven rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes.

Wittenberg was paced by Gregg Hill's 21 points.  He was 8-of-17 from the field and 4-for-11 from 3-point range.  Brandan Barabino followed with 11 points and seven boards for the Tigers who improve to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Wittenberg shot 46 percent from the field for the game and Denison finished the night at 39 percent.  Both teams committed 12 turnovers and the Tigers won the rebounding battle 39-32.

Denison will hit the court again on Saturday (Jan. 5) when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for a 3 p.m. tilt with Ohio Wesleyan University.
