Men's Cross Country: Big Red takes second at Cedarville Open

The Denison Big Red men's cross country team turned in another outstanding performance on Saturday as they placed second at the Cedarville University Open at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
Denison totaled 49 points which was second to the nation's fifth-ranked team, Carnegie Mellon University, who tallied 26 points to come away with the team title.
Freshman Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) was second in the field of 91 runners with a time of 25:09.03. He trailed CMU's Brian Harvey who covered the 8K in 24:57.04.
Following Salukombo was senior Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) who placed fourth in 25:26.41. The Big Red's next three runners finished in a pack, taking 13th, 14th and 16th overall. Leading that group was Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Regis Jesuit) who covered the course in 26:22.19. Senior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) was 14th in 26:27.02 and Skyler Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) rounded out the top-five finishers for Denison with his 16th place finish and a time of 26:39.07.
The third place team finish went to host, Cedarville, who is also ranked nationally in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
The Big Red moved into the most recent Great Lakes Regional rankings (fifth) and will look to continue their assention up the ranks at the All-Ohio Champinship meet on Oct. 10 in Delaware, Ohio.
