Men's Cross Country 08-09

Dee Salukombo won his first collegiate race on Friday night at Bryn Du Mansion.

The Denison men's cross country team opened their 2008 season on Friday night with the Denison Fall Festival at Bryn Du Mansion in Granville.  Fifteen members of the Big Red squad ran against The University of Rio Grande in an unscored meet.

The winner of the race was Denison freshman Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) who led a trio of DU to the top three spots.  Salukombo ran a time of 21:33 to set the pace.  He was followed by junior Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and senior Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina).  Tewahade raced to a time of 21:39 and Russo followed one second behind.

Senior Skyler Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) turned in a fifth place finish with his time of 22:09 and first-year Alex Chappers was sixth in 22:11.  Senior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) (eighth) and freshman Harry Griffin (10th) rounded out the top-10 for Denison.

Denison will travel to Oberlin College next Saturday (Sept. 13) for the Great Lakes College Association Championship.
