Men's Cross Country: Russo and Salukombo compete at NCAA Cross Country Championship

Senior Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and freshman Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) represented Denison University at the 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship on Saturday in Hanover, Ind.  Both runners qualified for the national championship meet after turning impressive finishes at last weekend's NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet.

Competing in their first national championship, Russo covered the 8K course in 25:28.76 which landed him in 81st place out of the field of 278 runners.  Russo also was second among all runners from the North Coast Athletic Conference.  Allegheny's Tony Dipre was the conference's top-placing runner at 25th place.

Salukombo crossed the finish line in 26:29.07 to place 236th overall. 

The NCAA individual championship went to Peter Kosgei of Hamilton in 24:22.03 and the team championship was awarded to Cortland State who topped second place, North Central by 35 points.
