Grant Russo logged the fastest time in the 25-year history of the NCAC Championship.

Senior Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) won the men's race to help the Denison men's cross country team finish second at the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday hosted by Oberlin College.

Russo finished the race in 24:56.9 which was almost 13 seconds faster the Zac Ross of Allegheny. Russo became just the fourth Big Red individual to win the event, and the first since Joe Dunham did so in 1999. Additionally, the senior's time was the first time a runner has finished the 8K course in under 25 minutes resulting in the fastest time in the 25-year history of the conference championship meet.

Freshman standout Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) took third for Denison with a time of 25:13.6 while Skler Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) finished seventh in a time of 25:33. Rounding out the Big Red scoring was Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) and Alex Chappars (Xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) who finished with marks of 25:59 and 26:23.3, respectively.

Denison finished second in the team standings with 66 points. Allegheny captured their fifth straight men's title with 34 points.

The Big Red return to action on Nov. 15 when they travel to Westerville, Ohio for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet.
