Freshman Dee Salukumbo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) and senior Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) finished second and third, respectively, at the Wilmington Fall Classic to help the 28th-ranked Denison men's cross country team claim their first team title of the season on Friday.

Salukumbo ran the 8K course in 24:59.49, just 13 seconds behind race winner David Mutuse of Lindsey Wilson. Salukumbo has successfully finished in the top 10 in every race in during his freshman campaign. Russo was right on the heels of his with a time of 25:20.78. Both Salukumbo and Russo's times marked career bests in the 8K event.

Senior Skyler Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) was third for DU with a time of 25:53.98, which was good enough for a ninth-place finish. Junior Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and senior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) rounded out the Denison scoring with 17th and 29th-place finishes, respectively. Tewahade ran the course in 26:02.73 while Hultquist logged a time of 26:34.54.

The Big Red edged Centre College by three points (60-63) en route to the team crown.

Denison returns to action on Nov. 1 when they travel to Oberlin College for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
