Men's Cross Country: DU takes eighth at All-Ohio, Salukombo captures Division III title

Sophomore Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) captured the Division III individual crown at the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships as he helped the Denison Big Red finish eighth in the Division III standings from Methodist Theologial School in Delaware, Ohio on Friday.

Salukombo finished the 8K even in 26:49.1, which was over 16 seconds faster the runner up Alan Bowsher of Ohio Northern University.  In the overall standings, the sophomore finished in ninth place, matching his overall finish from a year ago.

Following Salukombo was sophomore Alex Chappars (Xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) who finished in a time of 28:17.2 and ranked 22nd in the D-III standings.  Finishing third for the Big Red was junior Russell Holden (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) who crossed the line at 28:34.7, while classmate Dan Rafferty (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) logged a time of 29:10.2.  Freshman Chad Kosanovich (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) rounded out the Denison top five with a time of 30:08.2.

DU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 when they compete at the Gettysburg Invitational.
