Dee Salukombo was the individual champ at Cedarville's Friendship Invitational.

Sophomore sensation Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) is a perfect 3-for-3 in 2009 after his victory on Saturday at the 19th annual Friendship Invitational hosted by Cedarville University.  Salukombo led his Big Red team to a sixth place finish at the 16-team meet.

Denison finished with 139 points and were just four points behind fifth place Wright State.  Four of the five teams who finished in front of the Big Red were either NCAA Division I or NAIA institutions.  Salukombo finished the 8K course in 23:35 which was nearly two minutes faster than his time at last year's Cedarville meet.

Following Salukombo was sophomore Alex Chappars (xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) who placed 28th with a time of 26:53.  Coming in just behind Chappars was Russell Holden (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) who took 31st place in 26:59.

Denison's fourth place runner was first-year Chad Kosanovich (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) who covered the course in 27:11 to place 37th out of 177 runners.  The Big Red's top-five was rounded out by junior Dan Rafferty (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) who placed 42nd.

The Big Red will take next weekend off before returning to action on Friday (Oct. 2) at the 2009 All-Ohio Championship in Delaware, Ohio.
