Men's Cross Country: Salukombo repeats as champion at the GLCA to help Big Red take third

Sophomore Dee Salukombo's (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) victory helped the Denison men's cross country team place third at the Great Lakes College Association Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Salukombo finished the race with a time of 25:45, 22 seconds faster than the runner-up Eric Line of Oberlin.  Salukombo's win marks the second-straight year that he has taken home the GLCA Championship crown.  He won last year's race at Oberlin in 26:04.

Junior Russell Holden (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) finished 12th with a time of 26:52, while sophomore Alex Chappars (Xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) placed 14th at 26:59.  Freshman Chad Kosanovich (Sewickley, Penn./Quaker Valley) and junior Alphonse Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) also had solid days, finishing with times of 27:30 and 27:36, respectively.

The Big Red returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 20) at the Cedarville Invitational.
