Bendtsen Qualifies for NCAA Cross Country Championship

Joel Bendtsen became the first Big Red male cross country runner to qualify for the national meet since 2000.

Denison University junior Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) has qualified for this Saturday's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship which will be held at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio at 11 a.m.

Bendtsen earned all-region honors by placing 17th overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional last Saturday in Hanover, Ind. He led all Denison runners and helped the Big Red to a 12th place finish at the regional meet. Bendsten was named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference first-team after placing sixth overall at the conference championships in October. He is the first Denison male cross country runner since Brock Babcock in 2000, to qualify for the national championship meet.
