Big Red Men Prepare for All-Ohio Weekend
Date: October 5, 2006
Location: GRANVILLE, Ohio
The Denison men's cross country team will travel to Delaware Friday for the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Meet. Nearly every university in the state, from Division I to NAIA, will compete in the meet.
The Big Red men finished fourth among Division III teams last year - their best showing since the meet split into divisional rankings in 1997. As a junior, Brian Gilson (Cortland, Ohio/ John F. Kennedy) led the team with a time of 27:40.0 in crossing the finish line in 12th place. Sophomore Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/ Medina) recorded a time of 27:57.1 to finish 17th in the meet.
The additions of junior Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, Ohio/ Chillicothe) and freshman Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./ Regis Jesuit) will give the Big Red an opportunity to improve upon last year's finish. Bendtsen has placed either first or second among DU runners in every meet this season. Tewahade has become a main-stay in the top 5 for the Big Red during his rookie campaign.
The meet will be held on the grounds of Delaware's Theological School at the Dornoch Golf Club, the site of the 2005 NCAA Division III National Championships. The men's varsity race is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., followed by the open race at 3:30 p.m.
