Men's Cross Country: Denison Earns 2nd Place Finish at GLCA's

The Denison men's cross country team landed three runners in the top-10 in Saturday's Great Lakes Colleges Association Championship.  The strong performance helped DU to a second-place finish at the nine-team meet hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

The Big Red was paced by Grant Russo's (Medina, Ohio/Medina) second-place time of 26:48.  He finished 20 seconds off the winning pace set by Kenyon's Jim Boston.  Russo was followed by senior Joel Bendtsen's (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) sixth-place time of 27:11.  Rounding out the top-10 for Denison was Adam Tewahade and his time of 27:34.

DU totaled 70 points and trailed champion Wabash by just seven points in the overall standings.  Oberlin followed Denison in third place with 83 points while Albion (97), Kenyon (121) and Ohio Wesleyan (121) rounding out the top-six.

Also scoring for Denison was Skylar Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcilff) who finished in 28:00 and in 22nd place.  Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) raced to a 30th place finish in 28:13 while Phil Hiltner (39th), Craig Baker (40th) and Kindy Tice (46th) rounded out the top finishers for Denison out of the 128-man field.
