Senior quarterback Mike Barnes (Gates Mill, Ohio/Mayfield) was named North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after tying the single-game rushing record in Denison's 49-27 victory over Kalamazoo.

Barnes ran for 270 yards and three touchdowns on 17 attempts, and passed for additional 175 yards and another score. The 445 yards of total offense was the best performance since Greg Neuendorf totaled 470 yards against Wabash in 2000. The single-game rushing mark tied Clay Sampson, who carried for 270 yards in 1979. In all, the Big Red rolled up 542 yards of total offense, and held Kalamazoo to 41 yards on the ground.

This marks the third time that the senior has been named NCAC Offensive Player of the Week since he moved to quarterback in 2007.  Barnes is also currently featured on the front page of the popular website D3football.com.

Denison hosts 11th ranked Wabash College in their home opener this Saturday (Sept. 13) at 1 p.m.
