Junior Mike Barnes (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after guiding the Big Red to a 42-0 victory over Gallaudet on Saturday.

Barnes, a two-year starter in the DU secondary, made his first career start at quarterback and propelled the Denison offense to 42 points and 525 total yards of offense.  He finished the game 6-of-12 for 55 yards in the passing department.  Barnes made an even greater impact with his feet, carrying the ball 16 times for 121 yards.  His 80-yard touchdown run was the longest play from scrimmage by a Denison player since 2005.

Barnes and the Big Red will travel to Allegheny College on Saturday (Sept. 29) for a 2 p.m. kickoff with the Gators.
