Football: Jason Wright to be honored at Scholar Athlete Banquet

Denison University senior Jason Wright (Granville, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) will be honored at the 47th annual National Football Foundation and college Hall of Fame scholar Athlete Awards Banquet at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Café in Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 11, 2008.
Wright's selection marks the ninth consecutive year that a Denison University student-athlete has been selected to attend the prestigious event. Past honorees at the Scholar Athlete Banquet include John Dunham '00, Tim Nicholas '01, Matt Lebovits '02, Ryan Hite '03, Pat Rule '04, Brian Bishoff '05, Matt Petersen '06 and last year’s recipient Mike Kushner .
Wright is a four-year letterwinner and a four-year starter for the Big Red at safety. He played in 39 career games and recorded 244 tackles, an average of 6.3 stops per game. In 2005 Wright recorded three interceptions, helping Denison tie a single-season record for interceptions with 22. In each of Wright's four seasons he ranked in the top-three on the team in total tackles. A biochemistry major with a 3.50 grade point average, Wright is the son of Rebecca and John Wright of Granville. The valedictorian of Watkins Memorial High School in 2004, Wright is also a member of the Denison Chemical Society.
