Men's Golf: Big Red in 4th place after opening round of Denison Fall Classic

The Denison men's golf team sits in fourth place after a strong opening round at the Denison Fall Classic held at Granville Golf Course.

The Big Red was led by sophomore Kyle Bates (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and junior Chase Foy (Westerville, Ohio/Upper Arlington) who both finished at 2-over par, 73's.  Foy, who made the turn with a 4-over par, 39, posted a 1-under 34 on the back side thanks to birdies on the 10th and 13th holes.

Bates who made the turn at 2-over par, closed with an even par, 36 on the back nine to also shoot 73.  Bates and Foy were followed by Tom Dunlap's (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpoool) 74 and John Milano's (Kenilworth, Ill./New Trier) 76.  Ken Smaga (Land O' Lakes, Fla./Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) rounded out the scoring with an 80 for the Big Red.

Denison will close out play at the 36-hole Denison Fall Classic with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m.
