Men's Golf: Bates and Milano lead DU at Allegheny

Kyle Bates fired a 1-under par 71 and Gian Milano followed with an even par 72 helping Denison to a sixth place finish at the Guy Kuhn Invitational hosted by Allegheny College.

Bates's 71 came after an opening round 74 which landed him in a tie for seventh place overall.  Milano followed in a tie for ninth place with a two round total of 146 (74, 72).

Ken Smaga followed with a 75 and Tom Dunlap carded an 83 to round out the scoring for Denison.

Indiana University or Pennsylvania, a NCAA Division II competitor, won the 16-team tournament with a team total of 575.  Allegheny was second at 586 followed in third by Ohio Wesleyan at 586.

Denison will compete in the second event of the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series beginning on Saturday (Sept. 27).
