Men's Golf: Smaga's 74 leads Denison at Barclay Invitational

Senior Kenny Smaga (Land-o-Lakes, Fla./Walsh Jesuit) fired a 3-over par 74 on Saturday at the 2009 Ted Barclay Spring Invitational from Granville Golf Course.  Denison sits in a tie for sixth place after an opening round 308.  DePauw leads the 14-team tournament after firing an opening round 294.

Smaga's 74 landed him in a tie for seventh place in the field of 85 golfers.  Kyle Bates (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) is right behind after a 75 and Tom Dunlap (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) finished with a six-over, 77.  Denison's first-round score was rounded out by Rob Colmery's (Nellysford, Va./St. Annes) 82.

The low round of the day was an even-par 71 fired by DePauw's Ronnie Harris.
