Men's Golf: Big Red tied for seventh at Lamkin-Strimer Memorial

The Denison men's golf team fired a first round 307 and currently sit in a tie for seventh place at the 14-team Strimer Lamkin Memorial Tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
Kyle Bates (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) led Denison with an opening round 73 thanks to his even-par 35 on the back nine. Senior Kenny Smaga (Land-O-Lakes, Fla./Walsh Jesuit) netted a pair of 38s to finish with a six-over 76. Tom Dunlap (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) ended with a 79 and Chase Foy (Westerville, Ohio/Upper Arlington) carded an 80 to round out the Big Red's scoring.
Ohio Wesleyan leads the tournament with an opening round 294. Mount Union's Lucas Murray shot the low round of the day, a one-under par 69. The teams will return to the course on Saturday to close out the 36-hole tournament.
