Men's Golf: Denison in sixth after day one of Hiram Invitational

The Denison men's golf team fired a 330 on the opening day of the Hiram College Invitational held at Hawk's Nest Golf Club in Hiram, Ohio. The Big Red, currently in sixth place, are just three strokes back from Wabash College in the second event of the 2009-10 North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series.
DU was led by rookie Connor Monaghan (Garden City, N.Y./The Peddie School), who fired a 77 (38-39) to finished tied for eighth place. First-year Sam Kaiser (Zionsville, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory) sits tied for 19th after carding an 81 (39-42), while freshman Jeff Maier (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) turned in an 85 to finish the day in a tie for 30th. Rounding out the Big Red scoring was sophomore Rob Colmery (Nellysford, Va./St. Anne's Belfield School), who shot an 87 in the first round of play.
Denison closes out the event and wraps up their fall schedule on Sunday in Hiram.
