Men's Golf: DU takes third at Wooster's Nye Intercollegiate

In their final tune-up before the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship's the Big Red men's golf team turned in another strong all-around performance, finishing in a tie for third at the Nye Intercollegiate hosted by The College of Wooster.
Denison finished with a 36-hole total of 618 which was six stroke behind second-place Olivet and 15 off the pace set by team champ, Ohio Wesleyan.
DU was led by Kenny Smaga who followed up his 78 on Saturday with a two-over-par, 74 on Sunday. His 152 placed him in a tie for seventh in the field of 65 golfers.
Following Smaga was Ryan Brady, Kyle Bates and Rob Parks who all carded 156 over the two-day event. Brady fired rounds of 80, 76 while Bates and Parks shot 78 in both rounds. Senior Frank Steinberg was two shots behind Brady, Bates and Parks at 158.
Denison University will serve as the host school for the 2008 NCAC Championship. The 54-hole event will take place at Granville Golf Course on May 3-4.
