Golfers Battle the Elements for 7th Place Finish at Wooster

The Denison men's golf team fought off some cold temperatures and less than desirable conditions on Saturday to finish in seventh place at the 16-team Nye Intercollegiate hosted by The College of Wooster.
Denison junior Brian Casey had an outstanding two-day tournament. He fired an opening round, six-over-par 78 and returned with a four-over 76 on Saturday to finish third out of 84 competitors.
Casey was followed by Kenny Smaga and Frank Steinberg who both finished with two-day totals of 165. Smaga posted an 83 on Friday and an 82 on Saturday while Steinberg carded an 82 on Friday and an 83 today.
Junior Ryan Brady rounded out Denison's scoring with rounds of 87 and 83.
As a team, Denison finished at 654, 24 strokes off the pace set by team champion, Otterbein College. Olivet College was second at 636 followed by DePauw (645), Baldwin-Wallace (646), Heidelberg (647) and Wooster (648).
