Men's Golf: Denison places fifth at OWU/Strimer Memorial
Date: April 13, 2008
Location: DELAWARE, Ohio
The Denison men's golf team placed fifth at the Ohio Wesleyan-Strimer Memorial Tournament from Oakhaven Golf Course in Delaware, Ohio.
The Big Red fired a two-day total of 637 and was led by senior Frank Steinberg's back-to-back rounds of 75. Steinberg placed sixth in the field of 72 golfers. Following Steinberg and tying for 24th place was senior Ryan Brady who followed his 83 on Saturday with a 79 on Sunday. Freshman Kyle Bates also improved five strokes with a 79 in today's final round. Junior Kenny Smaga rounded out Denison's scoring with rounds of 79 and 85.
The final round was played under less than desirable conditions. The temperature never rose above 40 degrees, high winds wreaked havoc with approach shots. Mix in a little rain and snow and it was a battle for all 11 teams competing at the event.
