Men's Golf in 4th after opening round at Granville G.C.

Denison junior Tom Dunlap (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) carded a 2-over-par 73 in the opening round of the Denison Fall Classic helping the Big Red to a team total of 304, which is good enough for fourth place overall heading into Sunday's final round.

Dunlap carded birdies on the fifth, 10th and 16th holes on his way to his team-low round. Overall his effort landed him tied for the fourth best round of the day. Southwestern's Chris Paiz and Otterbein's Matt Collins both shot even-par 71's.

Sophomore Kenny Smaga (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) was one-over at the turn and finished with a 76. First-year Chase Foy (Westerville, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was one behind at 77 and Brian Casey (Madison, N.J./Madison) carded a pair of 39's for a 78.

The 36-hole tournament will wrap up on Sunday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Otterbein leads at 295 followed by Wittenberg at 303, Mt. Union (303), Denison (304), Baldwin-Wallace (308), Southwestern (308), Franklin (311), DePauw (314), John Carroll (314), Wooster (315) and Capital (321).
