Men's Golf Places Third at NCAC Championship; 5th in Overall Standings

The Denison men's golf team turned in a three-day total of 952 to place third at the 2007 North Coast Athletic Conference championship from the Legends of Massillon Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

The tournament wrapped up a season-long four tournament swing that would go on to crown the overall conference champion. The other three previous tournaments that factored into the standings occurred at Hiram and Wittenberg in the fall and a Ohio Wesleyan in the spring. In the overall standings the Big Red landed in fifth place with 2,881 total strokes. Wooster took fourth with 2,869 strokes while Wittenberg landed third, Allegheny took second and Ohio Wesleyan placed first.

At this weekend's conference championship Ryan Brady and Ben Davidson tied for 12th place with a three-round total of 233. Brady carded rounds of 77, 75 and 83 while Davidson checked in with rounds of 74, 77, and 84.

Placing 16th overall was Kenny Smaga and his 236 (80, 78, 78) and landing fourth for DU was Rob Parks and his rounds of 80, 83, and 85.

Smaga and Brady both earned second-team All-NCAC accolades while Davidson earned an honorable mention. The Nye Award, granted to the NCAC's top player, went to Ohio Wesleyan's Kyle Martin who also earned medalist honors this weekend with a three-round, 219.
