Lex Hultquist finished second in the 800-meter run and was a member of the record setting distance medley relay team at the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Championships on Saturday.

The team of Lex Hultquist (Bethesda, Md./Webb School of Knoxville), Michael Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield), Ben Pendery (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) won the distance medley relay and set a new Denison school record in the event with a time of 10:21.32 at the Division III All-Ohio Indoor Championship on Saturday afternoon in Westerville, Ohio.

The foursome broke the previous record of 10:23.69 that was set back in 2007 by Hultquist, Barnes, Pendery and Joel Bendtsen.

Hultquist and Pendery also faired well in the 800-meter run. Hultquist finished runner up to Ohio Northern's James O'Brien with a time of 1:56.29 while Pendery was sixth at 1:58.77. Freshman Chris Black (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) took 14th in the 800 with a mark of 2:06.99 while Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./Regis) was sixth in the one mile with a time of 4:25.84.

On Friday evening, the Denison Big Red totaled 52 points en route to a sixth-place finish at the All-Ohio Pre-Meet hosted by Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.

Sophomores Brett Ayers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor), Todd Johnson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles) and Daniel Doggett (Byfield, Mass./The Governor's Academy) all took home second-place finishes to lead the Big Red. Ayers finished the 500-meter run in a time of 1:13.31 while Johnson logged a time of 2:01.98 in the 800-meter run.

Doggett was runner up in the 5,000-meter run after posting a time of 16:39.97. First-year Chris Roth (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) notched a pair of top ten finishes. Roth took fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.02 and was ninth in the 60-meter dash at 7.49.

In the field events, sophomore Steve Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Canaan) tossed the shot put 40-03.25, which was good enough for sixth place. Senior Robbie Christian (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) finished seventh in the high jump after clearing 5-08.
