Men's Indoor Track & Field: DU Lid-Lifter Results

Chris Roth won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.91.

Senior Bill Horn (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli), sophomore Chris Roth (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) and first-year Cal Keating (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame) all earned first-place victories at the Denison Lid-Lifter which marked the start of the Big Red's 2010 indoor track & field season.

Roth notched his victory in the 55-meter dash after crossing the line in 6.91, while teammate Joe Nichols took third in the event with a time of 7.03.  Horn's victory came after clearing 14-00.00 in the pole vault, while Keating took first and second in the long jump (21-05.50) and triple jump (41-04.25), respectively.  Keating's performance in the long jump ranked seventh all-time in school history, while his mark in the triple jump ranked 10th on the all-time list.

Sophomores Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) and Chris Black (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) finished second in their respective events.  Salukombo finished the one mile run in 4:25.92, while Black crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run at 2:00.89. 

Sophomores Pat Effinger (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) and Alex Chappars (Xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) and freshman Irwin Castro (Los Angeles, Calif./Belmont Sr.) all logged third place finishes.  Effinger finished the 400-meter dash in 53.58, while Chappars finished the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:18.97 and Castro posted a time of 10.09 in the 55-meter hurdles.

Denison returns to action next Saturday (Jan. 30) when they host the NCAC Relays at Mitchell Recreation & Athletic Center in Granville, Ohio.
