Junior sprinter Mike Barnes (Mayfield, Ohio/Mayfield) won the 400 meter dash and the Big Red took first place in the 4x400 and 4x200 meter relays on Saturday at the unscored Denison Lid-Lifter meet at the Mitchell Center in Granville.

Barnes, the 2006 North Coast Athletic Conference champion in the 400 meters, placed first with a time of 52.09 seconds. Barnes would return to run lead-off in the winning 4x200 meter relay squad along with Brandon McAdams (Columbus, Ohio/Pendleton), O'Shane Richardson (Cambridge, Mass./Latin) and Brett Ayres (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor).  The foursome finished the 4x200 in 1:38.07.

Freshman Aaron Dodds (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) wasted little time making a mark on the program.  In just his second meet, Dodds placed third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.94 seconds which is the ninth fastest time in program history.  Dodds also placed fifth in the long jump, clearing 18'7".

Four DU runners placed in the top-seven in the 800 meters, led by Ben Pendery (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Ben Holder's (Dover, Ohio/Dover) second and third place finishes.  Pendery nipped Holder by the narrowest of margins, finishing in 2:00.49 to Holder's 2:00.50.  Erik Walker (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) and Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) rounded it out with sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively.

In the pole vault, sophomore Bill Horn (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) was third with a height of 12'5.5".  Rounding out the field event top-finishers was Chris Barber and his throw of 40'10.5" in the shot put.

Senior Craig Baker (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) placed fifth in the 3,000 meters in 9:25.43 and the team of Walker, Holder, Matt Perkett (Evansville, Ind./School of Science) and Pendery were winners in the 4x400 in 3:34.90.
