Men's Results from Denison Lid Lifter

Denison sophomore Lex Hultquist set a new school record in the mile and Michael Barnes picked up right where he left off last season, with a victory in the 400 meter run, as the Denison men's indoor track and field team kicked off their 2007 schedule on Saturday at the annual Denison Lid-Lifter.
Hultquist placed second in the mile, but set a modern indoor school record with a time of 4:22.49, breaking the mark set by Andrew Schaefer last season. Barnes, the 2006 North Coast Athletic Conference champion in the 400 meters, won easily with a time of 52.49 seconds. Barnes also added a second place finish in the 200 meters.
Another 2006 NCAC champ, high jumper Andrew Cook, also finished in first place by clearing 6'2". Senior James Nelson won the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.38 and Joel Bendtsen turned in a second place performance in the 3,000 meter run, crossing the finish in 8:58.83.
In the men's shot put, Steve Webber and Chris Barber placed second and third, respectively. Webber's best throw traveled 42'6" while Barbers top heave covered 42'0".
Denison's Bill Horn won the men's pole vault and 4x400 relay team finished second.
Denison will host the 2007 NCAC relays next Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Mitchell Center.
