Men's Indoor Track & Field: Results from Capital Invitational

In their final tune-up before next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Denison men placed sixth out of 11 teams on Friday night at the Rick Meindl Last Call Meet from Capital University.

Denison junior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) led the way with a first-place finish in the men's 800 meters.  Hultquist turned in a time of 1:59.06 to finish just in front of Miami University's Cedric Diakabana.

In the 200 meter dash junior Mike Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield) placed third with a time of 23.03.    James Cosby (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) took home fourth place in the triple jump.  He covered 41'10" in the event.

The men's shot put featured a pair of top-10 finishes for the Big Red as freshman Steve Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Canaan) placed sixth with a throw of 43'4.5".  Senior Chris Barber (Sharpsburg, Ky./Bath County) placed ninth.

Senior Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) was the runner-up in the men's mile with a time of 4:26.80.  His teammate, sophomore Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./Regis) placed fifth in 4:35.93.

DU's distance medley relay team placed first with a time of 11::08.92.  Freshman Will Kirk (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) rounded out the DU point scorers with a 11th place finish in the pole vault.
