Men's Lacrosse: Big Red stays unbeaten in conference play

No. 16 Denison opened the game by scoring the first 11 goals of the contest in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Big Red would go on to defeat Oberlin College 22-3 to improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Denison attempted 62 shots on the night and 15 different players scored at least one goal for DU. Junior Brady Burton (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) led the way with three goals and one assist that all came in the first 12 minutes of play. Justin Hess (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) scored two goals and had three assists and Nate Hall (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), the current NCAC Athlete of the Week, finished with one goal and three assists. Hall leads the Big Red with 13 assists in 2009.
Four goalies saw action for the Big Red and first-year starter Gregg Shannon (Lindenhurst, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was credited with the victory after holding the Yeomen scoreless in his 18 minutes of action. Sophomore Jake Vita (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) led the team in ground balls with five and was 4-for-9 in face-off's.
DU was 3-for-5 in extra-man situations and were 20-of-22 when clearing the ball. Denison will put their six-game winning streak on the line this Saturday (April 11) when they host Adrian College at 7 p.m.
