Denison Men's Lacrosse to Host Widener University in NCAA First Round

The NCAA selection committee has announced that the Denison University men's lacrosse team will host Widener University on Wednesday (May 9) at 4 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium on the Denison campus in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
Denison (11-3) is making their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 15th appearance in school history. This will be the first ever meeting between Denison and Widener in lacrosse. The Pride are winners of the Middle Atlantic Conference and bring a 12-5 record into the field of 20.
The Big Red is coming off a 4-1 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference and an impressive 10-1 victory over Kenyon College to close out the regular season. They are led by freshman attack Brady Burton (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) who has scored 47 goals, the second highest single-season goal total in Denison history. Junior goalie Alex Baruch (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) is coming off a phenomenal 13-save effort against Kenyon in which he held the Lords scoreless through the first 54 minutes of the contest. He has .628 save percentage in 13 starts this season.
The winner of the Denison-Widener match-up will advance to face Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md. on Saturday, May 12. Tickets for Wednesday's game are $3 for adults and $1 for children under 12.
