Men's Lacrosse: Denison blitzes Mount St. Joseph

Date: April 2, 2008
Location: CINCINNATI, Ohio

The Big Red got six goals from Brady Burton (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and a dominating performance on offense and defense which resulted in a 19-3 drubbing Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday night in the Queen City.

Denison sophomore Dan Wallace (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) made his second career start in goal for the Big Red and had a relatively easy night.  Wallace saw just 10 shots off the crosses of Mount St. Joseph but he did make three saves to earn the win.

While Burton led Denison with six goals, running his season total to 25 goals there were plenty of offensive starts for DU.  Senior Rick Mackessy (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) tallied three goals and one assist while PJ Hendrick (Newton, Mass./Rivers School) finished with two goals and one helper.  Dan Maude (Wayne, Pa./Haverford School) scored one goal and had two assists and junior Nate Hall (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) scored once and led the team with four assists.  Finishing right behind Hall in the assist category was Topher Nazaruk (Stratford, Conn./Fairfield Prep) who helped on three Denison goals.

The Big Red outshot The Mount 53-10 and gathered a gaudy 53 ground balls to just 10 for the Lions.  Sophomore Connor Detjen (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) helped Denison dominate possession by going 14-of-19 in the face-off circle.

Denison improves to 6-2 overall and will host Washington & Jefferson on Saturday (April 5) at 1 p.m.
