Denison University head men's lacrosse coach Matt McGinnis and his staff have been selected to present at this year's Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Clinic on Saturday (Dec. 15) in Philadelphia, Pa. The clinic, which opens today and continues through Sunday (Dec. 16), is attended by hundreds of college and high school lacrosse coaches from around the country.
McGinnis and his staff will address the topic of "Transition Skills" at the clinic and are joined on the list of presenters by the likes of Dave Pietramala of Johns Hopkins, Jeff Tambroni of Cornell and Jim Berkman of Salisbury, to name a few.
McGinnis is entering his third season as the head coach of the Big Red. He has guided Denison to two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and has posted a 21-10 record since taking over in 2006. In his inaugural season he led the team to a North Coast Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament.
This season he returns 2007 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and leading scorer Brady Burton (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) to the mix along with fellow preseason All-Americans Taylor Nissi (Groton, Mass./Holderness) and Jim Minor (Washington, Pa./Trinity). The team kicks off their 2008 campaign at home on Feb. 21 against Fontbonne and wraps up their regular season at home versus rival Ohio Wesleyan on May 3.
