Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Big Red finish fourth at Wooster Invitational

The Denison men's outdoor track & field team posted nine top-five finishes as they took fourth at the College of Wooster Invitational on Saturday in Wooster, Ohio. The Big Red finished with 82.5 total points.
Senior Skyler Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.J./ Briarcliff) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a mark of 9:59.76 while classmate Phil Hiltner (Sylvania, Ohio/St. John's) took third in the race with a mark of 10:19.23. First-year Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) finished second in the 1,500-meter run as he crossed the line at 4:06.67. Salukombo also took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.71 while senior Ben Holder (Dover, Ohio/Dover) finished the 800 in sixth with a mark of 2:00.49.
Senior Steve Flatley (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was runner up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.32 while rookie Chris Roth (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) placed sixth in the 100 dash, crossing the line at 12.19. Freshman Alex Chappars (Xenia, Ohio/Bellbrook) and sophomore Daniel Doggett (Byfield, Mass./The Governor's School) took third and sixth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run. Chappars logged a time of 16:14.05 while Doggett clocked a time of 16:27.70.
In the field events, sophomore Steven Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Canaan) notched a second-place finish in the javelin with throw of 158.04 and took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 42-04.00. Senior Robbie Christian (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) cleared 5-06.00 in the high jump which was good enough for fourth place.
DU returns to action on Saturday (April 4) when they travel to Washington & Jefferson College. The Big Red throwers will compete at OWU on Saturday.
