Men Place 6th at NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio-- Saturday, day two of the NCAC championships, would see Junior Eric Meibers (Cincinnati, OH./ McNicholas) lead the Big Red to a sixth place overall finish at the championships. Meibers running the 400 Meter hurdles won the event with a time of 54.62 seconds while scoring 10 points for the team. First year Erik Walker (Woodlands, TX. / Woodlands) finished fourth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 50.99, and 5 points for the Big Red. Junior, Harpeet Grewal (Parma, OH. / Parma) ran the 800 meters in 2:00.48 scoring two points and a seventh place finish. In field events, Sophomore Jeff Mervosh (Rochester, MN. / Mayo) would score eight points for the Big Red with a second place finish in the discus and a throw of 43.31m. First year Andrew Cook (Thetford Center, VT. / Thetford Academy) scored four points by finishing fifth in the high jump, with a height of 1.88m. Clark Paciorek (Novi MI. / Northville) scored six points placing third in the 3000 meter steeplechase missing second place by one second, with a time of 9:37.74. In the 1500 meter run, Sophomore Andrew Schaefer (Cinicnnati, OH. / Princeton) finished second place with a time of 4:02.23, scoring eight points for Denison. The team of Walker, James Marks (Wexford, PA. / North Allegheny), James Nelson (Orchard Park N.Y. / Orchard Park) and Meibers placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:28.06 to earn five points for Denison. On Friday Denison was led by Mervosh's fourth place performance in the shot put which gained five points for the Big Red. Senior Brian Brunacini (Hillsboro, Ohio/Hillsboro) came in sixth in the javelin, ending with a throw of 47.66 meters. Sophomore Brian Gilson (Cortland, Ohio/J.F.K.) placed seventh in the 10K with a time of 33:09.45 and Brandon Horton (Westport, Conn./Staples) picked up a point by placing eighth in the pole vault.
