Clark Paciorek (Novi, Mich./Northville) led Denison's men's outdoor track and field team at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday. Paciorek won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:48.23. Denison throwers James Hawkins and Jeff Mervosh (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) placed second and third, respectively in the discus throw. Hawkins' best throw traveled 42.44 meters. Mervosh also turned in a seventh place finish in the shot put. Junior Eric Meibers (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) took second in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.27. The 5,000 meter run saw Mark Gallagher (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) placed third in 15:50.87. Sophomore Andrew Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) came in eighth in the 1,500 meters in 4:08.43 and Brandon Horton (Westport, Conn./Staples) cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault to place third. Denison will compete in next weekend's All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
