Clark Paciorek (Novi, Mich./Northville) took first place in the steeplechase and Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) won the 5,000 meters as Denison earned 113 total points, placing third at the William Welsh Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman on Saturday. Paciorek braved the cold weather and wet feet, completing the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:46.87. Bendtsen logged a winning time of 15:34.16 in the 5K. Senior thrower Steve Bedoskey (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic) had a good day, placing second in the hammer throw with a toss of 122'7". He also placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 41'3.25" In the 400 meter dash Michael Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield) and Erik Walker (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) placed second and third, respectively. Barnes crossed the finish line in 51.68. In the 800 meters Ben Pendry (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) took third and Happy Grewal (Parma, Ohio/Parma) came in fourth to pace DU. Sophomore Andrew Cook (Thetford Center, Vt./Thetford Academy) rounded out Denison's top performers with a fourth place showing in the high jump. The NCAC indoor champ cleared 6'0".
