The Denison men's outdoor track and field team logged four first-place finishes helping lead DU to a third place finish at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday. Denison got victories from Ben Pendery (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) in the 800 meters, Joel Bendsten (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) in the 5,000 meters, Andrew Cook (Thetford Center, Vt./Thetford Academy) in the high jump and Brett O'Brien (Rumson, N.J./Christian Brothers) in the javelin throw. Pendery's winning time of 1:58.02 took home gold. James Marks (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) placed fifth in the event with a time of 2:00.60. Bendsten won the 5,000 in 15:32.75 and placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.73. Freshman Michael Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield) placed second in the 200 meter dash in 22.95 and James Nelson (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles. Cook won the high jump by clearing 6'3" and O'Brien won the javelin throw by measuring 141'1". Steve Bedosky (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic) turned in a second place performance in the hammer throw with measurement of 128'10". Fellow thrower Jeff Mervosh (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) placed fourth in the hammer, fourth in the shot put and second in the discus with a throw of 133'1". Steven Weber (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) led all DU throwers in the shot put with a third place finish. He also placed sixth in the discus. Denison totaled 117 points and finished behind only Capital University and The College of Wooster.
