Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Bendtsen defends 5K title at All-Ohio Championship
Joel Bendtsen won his second All-Ohio Championship in the 5,000 meters on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.

Senior Joel Bendtsen (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) defended his crown in the men's 5,000 meters helping the Big Red to an eighth place finish at the 2008 Division III All-Ohio Championship from Delaware, Ohio.
Bendtsen crossed the finish line in 15:05.59 and battled some tough conditions to capture his second All-Ohio title. Finishing just behind Bendtsen in 15:06.86 was Mount Union's Kyle Basista.
Junior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) logged a fourth place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:03.48. The winning time was set by Scott Lasch of Heidelberg in 4:00.17. Hultquist's classmate, Ben Pendery (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) placed sixth in the 800 meters in 1:57.98. Ohio Northern's James O'Brien reached an NCAA automatic qualifying time, winning by more than five seconds at 1:50.87.
Junior sprinter Mike Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield) turned in a seventh-place showing in the 400 meter dash and an eighth place finish in the 200 meter dash. In the 400 Barnes crossed in 50.77 seconds. He ran the 200 in 23.12 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team placed fourth in 3:25.28 and Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) finished seventh in the men's 10,000 meters in 33:01.87.
Denison's final scoring performance came from Bill Aukerman (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) who cleared 5'11.5" in the men's high jump to place seventh.
