Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Results from Big Red Invitational

Mike Barnes won the 400 meter dash and Lex Hultquist took first place in the 800 and 1500 meter runs to highlight the Big Red men's outdoor track and field performances at Denison's first outdoor meet in nine years.

Barnes turned in a time of 50.15 to win the 400 by .52 seconds over Ohio Wesleyan's Nathan Osborn.  Hultquist won the 800 with a time of 1:58.17 and came back to edge an unattached runner for the victory in the 1,500 meters.

Sophomore Bill Aukerman took first place in the javelin with a distance of 159'5".  He also took third in the high jump, clearing 5'10".

Senior Chris Barber notched his first career victory with a throw of 13.6 meters in the shot put.  He was also the runner-up in the discus. Senior Jay Cosby placed fourth in the triple jump and the long jump.

Denison's night was capped off by a second and third place finish by Joel Bendtsen and Grant Russo in the men's 3,000 meters.  Bendtsen ran a time of 8:46.86 to finish behind the unattached Eric Putnam.  Russo crossed in 9:00.87.
