Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Results from Wooster Invitational

Junior Lex Hultquist (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School) won the men's 800 meters and senior Brett O'Brien (Rumson, N.J./CBA) took first place in the javelin to lead Denison at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Hultquist turned in a winning time of 1:59.04 while teammate Ben Pendery followed in fourth place with his time of 1:59.89.
O'Brien's throw of 144'10" in the javelin won the event by 4'5" and led a trio of Denison throwers who placed in the top-eight in the event. Sophomore Bill Aukerman (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) followed in fifth place with a throw of 134'8" and Eric Thomson (Manlius, N.Y./Manlius) landed in eighth place.
In the 400 meter dash junior Mike Barnes (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mayfield) took the bronze in 50.28 seconds. A fourth place finish was turned in by Phil Hiltner (Sylvania, Ohio/St. John's) in the 1,500 meters in 4:14.93 and Grant Russo (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and Adam Tewahade (Aurora, Colo./Regis) placed 5-6 in the 5,000 meters.
Aukerman would return in the high jump to place fourth and clear 5'10". Bill Horn (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncali) cleared 13'6.5" in the pole vault which was good enough for fourth place. Craig Baker (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) placed third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Jay Cosby (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) took sixth in the triple jump to round out Denison's top performers.
