Senior defender David Folt was named first-team All-NCAC for the third straight season.
Denison men's soccer senior David Folt (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was named first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference for the third consecutive year. Folt was joined on the all-conference team by junior Peter Shorten (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) and sophomore Drew Lash (Ballwin, Mo./Whitfield School).
Folt earned his third straight first-team appearance anchoring a Big Red backline that recorded two shutsouts and gave up just 25 goals which was third best in the NCAC. The Hudson, Ohio native started in 16 games for the DU and was named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District for the second straight year in 2008. The 2006 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year has logged four goals and two assists in his career from the backline.
Shorten was named second-team all-conference following a breakout junior campaign. The Hudson, Ohio native played in all 17 games and led the squad in goals (7), points (16), shots (46) and was a perfect two-for-two in penalty kicks. Shorten was also tied for fifth in the NCAC with three game-winning goals. An honorable mention All-NCAC selection a year ago, the junior midfielder joined Folt on the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District squad. This season, Shorten recorded back-to-back multi-goal matches for the first time in his career.
Lash received NCAC recognition for the first time in his career with an honorable mention all-conference nod. The sophomore tallied three goals and two assists before moving from forward to defender. Lash scored his first two career goals in this season's opener against Cedarville.
The Big Red finished the season 6-8-3 overall and seventh in the league.
