Ryan Torgersen scored his first collegiate goal in DU's 3-0 victory over Otterbein on Wednesday.

The Denison University men's soccer team tallied two goals in 17 seconds en route to a 3-0 victory over Otterbein College on Wednesday afternoon at Clements Field in Westerville, Ohio.  With the win, DU improves to 3-0-1 on the season, which marks the best program start since 2003.

The Big Red attack was kicking on all cylinders in the opening 45 minutes of action, as Denison took seven of the 10 first-half shots.  Sophomores Preston Wagner (Toronto, Ontario/TASIS American School) and Chris Olson (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) paced the offense with two shots each.

After an early second-half surge by the Cardinals, the Big Red struck first on the scoreboard when freshman Ryan Torgersen (Spring, Texas/Klein) scored the first goal of his career at the 59:05 mark.  Juniors Ish Ghodbane (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue Horton Watkins) and Lenny Mills (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) each recorded helpers on the tally.

Just 17 seconds after the opening score Mills added to the Denison advantage.  The Pittsburgh, Pa. native capitalized on a miscue by the Otterbein defense and buried a shot past keeper Alex Kamphaus.  The goal marked Mills' fourth in as many matches.

DU sealed the game in the 89th minute when rookie forward Adam Severs (Bath, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) notched his first collegiate goal on his first collegiate shot off an assist from Ghodbane.

Big Red goalie Kevin Donahue (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) made three saves en route to his second shutout of the season and the 20th of his career.

Denison returns to action Saturday (Sept. 12) when they travel to Carlisle, Pa. to take on Dickinson College.  Game time against the Red Devils is slated for 1 p.m.
