Men's Soccer: Big Red Blanks Macalaster

After playing through a scoreless first half the Denison Big
Red found the back of the net twice en route to a victory over Macalaster (Minn.)
at the 24th annual Kiwanis Soccer Classic hosted by Wilmington College.
Senior defender Greg Pecora (Chapel Hill,
N.C./Chapel Hill) scored his first goal of the season in the 48th minute by heading
in a feed from Andy Leindecker (St. Louis, Mo./University)
near the post.
Denison would
not score again until the 88th minute.Brian Collins (East Aurora, N.Y./The
Nichols School) found Peter Shorten (Hudson, Ohio/Western
Reserve Academy) who beat the goalie to give DU a little breathing
room during the final two minutes of play.
The victory was Denison's
third straight and their third consecutive shutout win. Kevin Donahue (Riverside,
Conn./Greenwich)
posted three saves while facing six shots in goal for the Big Red. DU outshot Macalaster 8-6 but took corner
kicks to Macalaster's three.
Denison will
face the host, Wilmington Quakers on Sunday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
