Senior Brett Castano anchored the DU defense that held #14 Captial to just one goal in 110 minutes Wednesday night.
The Denison Big Red Men's Soccer team dueled with the
fourteenth ranked team in the country Wednesday night for 110
minutes of exciting soccer action.
After the Crusaders took a one goal lead into half time, the
Big Red came out hot and scored their first goal of the contest a little over a
minute into the second period.Greg
Pecora(Chapel Hill,
N.C./Chapel Hill) found the back of the net
off a Ryan Linn (Zanesville,
Ohio/West Muskingum)
free kick to tie up the match. Linn put
a low cross right onto the feet of a sliding Pecora that he was able to touch
past the Capital keeper.
Both teams fought hard through the remainder of the match
but the defenses held firm and the game finished in the 1-1 tie.
Denison keeper Kevin Donahue (Riverside,
Conn./Greenwich)
recorded four big saves on the night as he and the Big Red defense were able to
hold the Crusaders scoreless for the remaining 96 minutes of the
contest.
The Big Red are now 5-1-1 on the season while Capital remains unbeaten at 5-0-2. Denison
travels Saturday to NCAC foe AlleghenyCollege for a 1:00pm
match.
