Peter Shorten was named the tournament's most outstanding offensive player.

Denison won their fourth consecutive match and improved their record to 5-1 overall following a 2-1 victory over Wilmington College on Sunday.  The victory sent the Big Red home with the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic championship.

Denison senior Ryan Linn (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) put his team on the board first when he headed in a short cross by freshman Andrew Lash (Ballwin, Mo./Whitfield School) in front of the box in the 24th minute.  The score would remain 1-0 until the 64th minute when Andy Leindecker (St. Louis, Mo./University) found Peter Shorten (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) who beat Wilmington keeper Aaron Slusher, giving DU a two-goal advantage.

THe Quakers would bounce back 10 minutes later with a goal by J.T. Pitstick but the Big Red defense stood firm over the final 15 minutes to earn the victory.

Shortentook home the tournament's most outstanding offensive player trophy while junior David Folt (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was named the most outstanding defensive player.

Wilmington edged Denison in shots 9-8 but DU held a big advantage in corner kicks, 7-2.  Big Red goalkeeper Kevin Donahue (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) posted five saves.

Denison will return to the Barclay-Thomsen pitch on Wednesday when they host Capital University at 7 p.m.
