Men's Soccer: Olivet Hands DU First Defeat of the Season

Olivet's Josh Van Wagner scored off a penalty kick in the 59th minute, breaking a 0-0 tie which would eventually lead the Comets to a 2-0 victory over the Denison men's soccer team in Olivet, Mich. on Saturday afternoon.

Denison (1-1) finished the day with 12 shots while Olivet (1-1) tallied 17 shots, 11 of which were on goal.  Big Red goalkeeper Kevin Donahue had a strong match, posting nine saves in 90 minutes of action.  Olivet's final goal was scored by Mike May off an assist by Colin Yake.

Peter Shorten, Friday night's golden goal hero, led Denison with four shots.  Olivet keeper Ethan Felsing posted five saves while notching his first shutout of the season. 

DU will host Anderson in their home opener on Wed., Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
