Men's Soccer: Second Half Goal Sends Allegheny Past DU Men

Date: Sept. 22, 2007
Location: MEADVILLE, Pa.

The Denison defense withstood a heavy barrage of offensive opportunities from Allegheny but gave up an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute that would be the eventual game winner for the Gators.

Denison went into half time having held Allegheny scoreless on four shots including a penalty kick that was saved by Big Red sophomore goalie Kevin Donahue (Riverside, CT/Greenwich).  The Big Red offense was able to get off two shots during a physical first half.

At the 53:32 mark of the game Gator forward Jim Beyer was able to create a big enough crack in the defense and score the goal that would keep Allegheny on top for the rest of the match.  Denison picked up the pace on the offensive side of the field during the second half firing off seven shots, but was not able to get one passed Gator keeper Ryan Larkin.

Forwards Ryan Linn (Zanesville, OH/West Muskingum) and Tyler Dolanch (Pittsburgh, PA/Ringgold) spearheaded the Big Red offense with two shots on goal a piece.  Denison was able to take six corner kicks to Allegheny’s one.

The Big Red will travel to Westerville next Wednesday to face Otterbein College.  Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
